Thanks for visiting our site. It’s a glimpse into the passion and vibe we try to create at the spa. I hope you find it helpful and fun!

As a mom and a professional I understand how difficult it is to find a balance between work, family, fitness and fun. It’s a daily challenge that I know we all struggle to overcome. But, I have also learned through my training and personal experience that with some dedication and a few tweaks to daily habits it IS possible to feel fit, happy and healthy.

I haven’t always felt this way though…

Bodywork and alternative therapies have been powerful methods for me to find healing during moments of huge change in my life. The first major change was the sudden death of my mom in a traumatic car crash and the second huge change was after the birth of my son. Massage, Reiki energy healing, Bach flower essences, essential oils, exercise, and deep mental emotional work have all helped me to recover  from depression, anxiety, and stress, reconnect to my sense of self, and embrace the joy and gratitude of having another day with the people I love.

In my free time I love to play outside with my family, practice hot yoga, go running, and have dance parties with my son, or by myself. I also write posts for the blog my sister and I created called A Joyful Escape. You can also find me on Instagram @stephgroovinfree.

My name is Emily and I am a nail polish and nail art addict! I finished my course in nail technology at Raphael’s School of Beauty Culture Inc in Alliance, OH in July 2012. I am fiercely passionate about natural nail health, and I firmly believe that healthy, beautiful nails can change your attitude.

Many people ask me why nails? After six years of higher education in biology and environmental science at The University of Akron, why would I give up a career in another field to pursue something like this? The answer to this question is two-fold. First of all, I am a passion-driven person, and I must follow that where it takes me! The creativity involved in manicures and nail art delights me, and I apply the critical thinking I learned in my “past-life” as a scientist in many ways in this new career that I did not expect! Secondly, I love to make people feel good! There is too much “bad” in the world; women need something frivolous and slightly excessive that makes them feel confident and strong! I want people to leave me better than they came to me. Whether that is fun nail art, moisturized cuticles, or a relaxing spa pedicure, I want to be in a field that improves quality of life and happiness.

In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and our fur-baby, Bob!  I also write a nail art blog called Casual Contrast!
